Review: In the Labyrinth of Drakes

Soooo, this review is a long time coming.  Not because I read the book a long time ago but because I’ve been waiting to read it since it came out in early April.

In the Labyrinth of Drakes is book four in The Memoirs of Lady Trent series by Marie Brennan.

Each book has an amazing cover.

I’m a huge fan of the first three books, so I had high expectations – and Marie Brennan definitely delivered.

Isabella, Lady Trent, was back as the fiery, intelligent, independent, passionate woman that narrated the first three books.  She’s matured a bit but still geeks out over everything dragon related.  Drakes is full of naturalism, politics, romance, and tension.  There are spies, kidnappings, secret lairs, and sandstorms.

And of course, Isabella and her good friend and colleague, Tom, are always up for sticking it to the patriarchy, seeking equal rights for women and all people from lower social classes.

This book, just like this whole series, is quite the gem.

Book five is coming out in April!  Here’s the gorgeous cover of Within the Sanctuary of Wings.
