August Review Wrap-Up

August is over, and I read some GOOD stuff.  So good that I have a new favorite book of all time.  Check out what I read the past month below!

First Virtue by Michael Jan Friedman and Christie Golden

  • Book 6 of the Double Helix series.  A typical Star Trek pocket book in the best way (politics, high stakes, cultural differences, sabotage), but a weird prequel to the rest of the series.

Peritoneum by L Andrew Cooper

  • An awesome collection of horror stories.  A perfect balance of subtle gore.

Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card

  • A phenomenal sequel to Ender’s Game that explores a new alien species, grief, guilt, redemption, cultural differences, and what it means to be human.  This is my new favorite book of all time.

Safely Home by Randy Alcorn

  • A story of an American who’s walked away from his Christian face witnessing the religious persecution of his former college roommate in China.

Be looking for a reflection on Summer Reading as a whole very soon!
